I’m Going to New York Fashion Week!: Ohne Titel

Hey Everyone!!!

I am so sorry for being MIA for over four months, but this time I actually had a good excuse: I started my first semester of college! University has been an absolutely amazing experience – and going to school in a city like New York City has just added to the magic. Due to my hectic schedule, I wasn’t able to post my #NYFW posts as quickly as I would have liked, however, there is no time like the present. During the next few weeks I will be posting reviews from shows such as Thaddeus O’neil, Concept Korea and GIVENCHY. But today, let’s get started with the wonderful Ohne Titel!

Hair and Makeup: Ohne Titel is a womenswear line designed by the power duo of Alexa Adams and Flora Gill. The stylists most likely used hair gel, sheen spray and salt water in order to give each girl a certain “wet look” in relation to their hair. The designers decided to keep the makeup simple in order to keep the attention on the clothes. I personally loved the styling of the hair, however, I wish that the makeup artists would have used a more metallic look rather than go ultra natural.

Accessories: The stylists used solid colored strapped heels and matching jewelry in order to enhance each look. My favorite utilization of styling has to be with the fourth look, as the beaded necklace and matching heel adds to the green gown without overpowering it. Overall, I felt that the accessories were a very successful aspect of the show.

Clothing: Clothing is by far the most important part of any fashion show. The Ohne Titel SS 2016 collection utilized colors inspired by spring, such as sea foam green, rose red and dandelion gold. The silhouettes were primarily loose and flowy for the warmer months, while the collection also bragged clean lines and perfect seams. All in all, I felt as if the Ohne Titel collection is one for the memory books.

I’m Going to Mercedes-Benz/MADE Fashion Week!: Bobby Abley Overview + Giveaway!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

BA7

Today, I will be posting the first fashion presentation at MADE Fashion Week that I had the pleasure to attend. Due to the poor weather and unfit hotel accommodations, I was only able to participate in NYFW for 2 days. On the first day, I spent the entire duration at Lincoln Center, where I watched three separate shows. On the final day, I spent the evening at Milk Studios and saw a concurrent four collection presentation on the 8th floor. Here we go:

BA2

BA3

BA5

Accessories and Styling: For most of the shows, I review the hair styles and makeup application on the models from the runway. Since all of the shows that I attended at Milk Studios were stationed with male models, I decided to concentrate on the styling of their hair and the accessories with their clothing. Each of the models had a very laid back yet put together hair style to reflect the child-like innocence of the collection. Each model wore a pair of burgundy sneakers, neon backpacks and faceless teddy bears. All in all, the nostalgic appeal of the collection was found in the styling as well.

BA8

BA9 BA10

Clothing: Now, time for the most important aspect of every fashion show: the clothing. I had the fabulous opportunity to speak with Mr. Abley, and found that he has a history of being inspired by Disney cartoons and traditional fairytales. Following his The Little Mermaid inspired collection for London’s Fashion Week: Men’s Collection last July, Abley created a The Jungle Book inspired collection for MADE Fashion Week. With bold cartoon-inspired prints, knit shorts, the installation of geometric patterns and a refreshingly juvenile method of styling, the Bobby Abley FW 2015 collection was the perfect mix of child-like nostalgia and contemporary chicness.

BA11

BA13

Loved this look!!!

BA12

I was very happy to have the opportunity to attend and review such a large amount of men’s fashion shows this season at NYFW. If you want to check out more of Bobby Abley’s work, check out his website here. I will have my Charlotte Ronson overview up soon (I lost my flash drive so I had to restart from scratch). Also, remember that my giveaway for a $50 Forever 21 Gift Card is still open here!!!!

Trend Thursday: Ombre Obsession and Boho Jewelry

Hey Everyone!!!

I can’t believe it is already May 1st! Oh sweet May, a month full of aromatic flowers, everlasting warmth and sensational scenery. One of my favorite aspects of the month of May is the vast amount of fashion opportunities available to loyal slaves of style like myself. The weather is warm enough in order to wear light-weight fabrics such as chiffon and lace while it is cool enough to pair any outfit with some outstanding outerwear. Here are two trends that I am loving for the spring and summer:

Image

Beauty Trend: Ombre Obsession

Now, this has been a trend that really started around 2011, when celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde, Lily Aldridge and Blake Lively took the plunge. Ombre is described as a gradual fading of a certain color in either a light to dark or dark to light direction. In order to achieve the ombre hair style, one must dye their hair in a series of steps in order to perfect the sequential shades of color. I personally think that Ombre is a perfect medium of the beauty of natural, saturated colors and unique contrast. This is one trend that I can’t wait to try out!

Image

Fashion Trend: Boho Jewelry

Boho-Chic is defined as “a style of female fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences.” Now, the Boho-Chic fashion style flared during 2004-2005 when international fashion model Kate Moss and other recognizable icons began dressing in the manner. Since then, the fad has appeared during certain time periods. Boho Jewelry is characterized by the light neutral and bright colors, along with the use of beads and cloth rather than diamonds and gold. I am enamored with the light-hearted appearance that these accessories add to any look. I suggest some long, feather earrings and a bright tribal necklace for the next time you want to try this trend out!

Get Ready With Me: Birthday Dinner

Hey Everyone!!!

I am so sorry that I have been AWOL for so long – for the last month I have been so busy with community service and school work that I had to neglect my blog. The entire month of March was a whirlwind of responsibility that I could not ignore. However, I am back to my passion and will be returning to a regular schedule of 3 posts a week. This is just a quick GRWM to start out with:

Get Ready with Me

My family celebrated my older brother’s birthday a week and a half ago by going out to dinner at our local Hibachi’s. This is a makeup tutorial and clothing review pertaining to the event. I decided to go with a deep purple smokey eye and nude, glossy lip.

New Hair Cut: Rihanna-Inspired Bob

Hey Everyone!!!

Today, I’m going to take a quick break from my New York Fashion Week post in order to make a quick post about my new hair! Now, I didn’t actually plan on getting my hair cut, but the undeniably freezing weather made my hair super dry, causing massive breakage. I pretty much was given the option to cut it all off or have it fall off 😦 But here are the results:

Image

This is just a few other photos on how it looks from side view:

ImageImage

In my opinion, the cut itself is very nice, however, I really miss my medium-length hair. I really feel as if it slimmed down my slightly chubby face-but I will just embrace the new cut until I can either grow it out or get a weave.

Love You All!!!

I’m Going to Mercedes-Benz/MADE Fashion Week: David Tlale Overview + GIVEAWAY!!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Image

Welcome to my fourth post about my experience at New York Fashion Week. Today I will be posting about the incredible collection by David Tlale. Now, the beauty of fashion week is that you sometimes are able to get into shows that you weren’t originally invited to. This was the case for my experience at the David Tlale show, as I was given a spare invitation from a very kind friend. This show took place at the Pavilion, a more intimate setting similar to that of Milk Studios located at Lincoln Center.

ImageImageImageImage

Music: The David Tlale had the most soft, alluring music of all the shows that I was able to attend. I wish that I could have asked the editor who composed the pieces, as it was absolutely beautiful. Imagine living in a majestic world of faeries who wore amazing clothing – this was the David Tlale show. The mix of beautiful piano pieces and strong ballads emphasized the femininity of the collection.

ImageImageImageImage

Beauty: Brows, brows brows!!! I couldn’t help but notice that one of the consistent factors of the show were full, strong brows with a prominent arch. Along with this, the models were also given a subtle makeup look with excess amounts of highlighter and bronzer to add dimension to the face. The hairstyles were very sleek, all of which led to a very soft and feminine appeal.

ImageImageImageImage

Clothing: Now, time to get the most important aspect of every fashion show: the clothing! This collection was absolutely amazing. Unlike the Czar or Ostwald Helgason collection, David Tlale’s clothing had very little to no masculine themes — the clothing screamed classic femininity through the use of soft fabrics, flowing silhouettes and tasteful sequin. The clothing were excellently created, however, there wasn’t too much concentration on construction. All in all, I am in awe of the collection – even if my personal preference calls for a few more edgy accessories.

Image

Image

This is just a photo of what I wore to the show. I really love the intricacy of the tweed trench coat and the bright pop of color found in the red sweater. Also, remember that my giveaway for a LORAC Pro Palette is still open here!!!!

I’m Going to Mercedes-Benz/MADE Fashion Week! : Ostwald Helgason Review

Hey Everyone!!!

Image

I can’t tell you how amazing New York Fashion Week was! I met a plethora of amazing people, and attended 6 shows! To be only a teenager and be given such an amazing opportunity is absolutely incredible. Before I started to cover the shows, I wanted to make sure I gave myself optimal time to properly cover each show. On February 8th, I attended the Fall/Winter Ostwald Helgason  show. In the photo above, you can see me and one half of the design team (Ingvar Helgason) posing in a pic (he is awesome!!!). Now, here are some pics of the shows:

ImageImageImageImage

Music: This show had my favorite soundtrack of all the shows that I had the pleasure to attend. The music sounded like a underground remix of popular hip hop and techno music, which just highlighted the modern ambiance of the collection. I very quickly learned that music is a very important factor in creating a show, and the Ostwald Helgason show was incredibly well-versed in this fact.

ImageImageImageImage

Beauty: The hair and makeup on the models was very sharp and sleek – with little to no bright colors or heavy product. All of the hair styles were either bone straight with a brilliant shine or slicked back in a sophisticated ponytail. This system allowed for the clothes to the stars of the show, as it should be.

Image

ImageImageImageImage

Clothing: I was completely in awe of the collection. Like most of the general population, I was not as knowledgeable about MADE fashion week in comparison to the more mainstream Mercedes-Benz counterpart. However, this collection (which was the only MADE show I was able to attend) completely blew me away with its futuristic aesthetic and clean cut silhouettes. I suggest this collection to any person who wish for modern clothing with a technology inspired twist.

Image

I was given the amazing opportunity to go backstage, and took this photo of the vision board of the collection. All in all, this collection was breath-taking, and I suggest that all bloggers should take the time to read about this superhero designer duo.

Fashion Fanatic: Constance Billiard School For Girls Style Transformation (Gossip Girl)

Hey Everyone!!!

Welcome to today’s special edition of Fashion Fanatic! This time, instead of showing my top 5 favorite outfits from a TV series, I will be showing the transformation in style of one of the most influential fictional high schools of all time: Constance Billiard School for Girls of Manhattan, NYC. In the same way that characters change and develop throughout a series, the style reflects that growth. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at these outfits:

Season 1 and 2: The Reign of Blair Waldorf – Preppy Chic

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. All hail the original Queen B of Constance and all of the Upper East Side, Ms. Blair Waldorf. Blair exudes an endless amount of class and sophistication through her wardrobe. Her style was emulated through her minions, who wore variations of Blair’s wardrobe. The daily outfits included tights, midi heels, petticoats, printed trench coats, headbands and expensive handbags. This time period of CBSFG style can be described as classy, preppy and sophisticated.

Season 3 and 4: The Reign of Jenny Humphrey – Grungy Chic

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. In the undying words of former queen Blair, say hello to the “Gothic Barbie”, Jenny Humphrey. Queen J completely revamped the original Constance style by incorporating a punk, grungy edge to the traditional silhouette. Jenny’s style concentrated on punk and gothic inspired pieces with a slight hint of sex appeal. The daily outfits included sheer tights, leather booties and jackets, loose ties and miniskirts. This time period of CBSFG style can be described as tough, edgy, sexy and punk.

Season 5 and 6: The Reign of Sage Spence – Boho Chic

Image

The photo above can be found here. Finally, we welcome the Boho Beauty of the Upper East Side, Sage Spence. Unlike Jenny and Blair, Sage was not apart of the main cast for the earlier seasons, so we only got a minimal look into her character. However, from the short period we did have her, we saw that her style exudes a more relaxed feel than the former queens. The daily outfits included cardigans, jean jackets, airy fabrics, bulky jewelry and hats. This time period of CSFG can be described by earth tones, bohemian inspirations and airy fabrics.

My personal favorite CSFG style time period is:
