Trend Thursday: Ombre Obsession and Boho Jewelry

Hey Everyone!!!

I can’t believe it is already May 1st! Oh sweet May, a month full of aromatic flowers, everlasting warmth and sensational scenery. One of my favorite aspects of the month of May is the vast amount of fashion opportunities available to loyal slaves of style like myself. The weather is warm enough in order to wear light-weight fabrics such as chiffon and lace while it is cool enough to pair any outfit with some outstanding outerwear. Here are two trends that I am loving for the spring and summer:

Image

Beauty Trend: Ombre Obsession

Now, this has been a trend that really started around 2011, when celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde, Lily Aldridge and Blake Lively took the plunge. Ombre is described as a gradual fading of a certain color in either a light to dark or dark to light direction. In order to achieve the ombre hair style, one must dye their hair in a series of steps in order to perfect the sequential shades of color. I personally think that Ombre is a perfect medium of the beauty of natural, saturated colors and unique contrast. This is one trend that I can’t wait to try out!

Fashion Trend: Boho Jewelry

Boho-Chic is defined as “a style of female fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences.” Now, the Boho-Chic fashion style flared during 2004-2005 when international fashion model Kate Moss and other recognizable icons began dressing in the manner. Since then, the fad has appeared during certain time periods. Boho Jewelry is characterized by the light neutral and bright colors, along with the use of beads and cloth rather than diamonds and gold. I am enamored with the light-hearted appearance that these accessories add to any look. I suggest some long, feather earrings and a bright tribal necklace for the next time you want to try this trend out!

Style Savvy: 4 Holiday Party Outfits

Hey Everyone!!!

Sorry that I have been able to post for a few days, I have been so busy with getting caught up on work. But now marks the first day of WINTER BREAK and I’m so excited for the upcoming holidays. Now, for the next week of so, many of you will be going to the annual pattern of events known as holiday parties. It can be a little difficult to determine what to wear at these events, so today, I have compiled a list of outfits that would be perfect for the outing.

1. Holiday Party Outfit: Gold Glitter

Image

This look is perfect for any girl who wants to be the center of attention. Sequin is a great, bold finish for those who want a wearable shine to their ensemble. The flared, tulle skirt of the dress is both flattering by minimizing the waist and adding shape to the hips for a more hourglass figure. A plain black belt can be added to the look to once again minimize the waist. Finally, black tights, sky-high stilettos and a deep red lip complete this holiday show stopper!

2. Holiday Party Outfit: White With a Kick

Image

Some girls love to mix minimization with exaggeration, which is the exact description of this ensemble. By matching this plain, white dress with a golden belt and red pumps, the accessories are the main players in the look. A gold necklace, with a matching belt and bangle set, we keep the color scheme consistent. Finally, a red lip and bronzed skin finish off this look with simplicity and bold glamour.

3. Holiday Party Outfit: Dark and Sophisticated

Image

Now, this is for my girls who enjoy a deep, mysterious wardrobe for the holidays. By adding a beautiful black dress with some form of design, such as this starlit-sky inspired look, with a beautiful black trench coat, you add a sensual, flattering look. Silver accessories are a must when going for a more sophisticated look, so a silver chain necklace and matching earrings are a must. Finally, a sultry smokey eye with deep purples and pinks finish off this look.

4. Holiday Party Outfit: Classic Beauty

Image

When a person thinks of the holidays, the first image that comes to mind is the iconic red dress. This beautiful little number, that only costs $20.00 at Forever 21, is the perfect dress for women of any body type. Staying of the trend of gold accessories, this dress is matched with golden heels and a beautiful wristwatch. A black blazer with leather accents adds an edge to your outfit, while a matching red and gold clutch finishes off the clothing. A neutral eye and bright red lip completes this classic holiday look for the party of your life!

Fashion Fanatic: Top 5 Glee Casual Outfits

Hey Everyone!!!

I can’t believe that it’s already December!!! It has been exactly 6 weeks since my last Fashion Fanatic post, which concentrated on the style icons of Skins (found here) and I felt that it was about time that I had another post. Today, I will be concentrating on my favorite casual outfits from the hit FOX Musical TV series “Glee”. Glee has been very talented in slowly changing the style of their character to fit their character’s personalities. Here are my top 5 favorite outfits:

5. Santana Lopez on Episode 5×03 “The Quarterback”

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. This particular episode was beautifully crafted, as it not only served as a memorial for late Quarterback Finn Hudson but also an incredible memorial for the actor who portrayed said character, the missed Cory Monteith. The dress itself can be found at Love Culture, and is priced at an affordable $20.00. I love the color-blocked panels on the dress, along with the slim fit on the characters frame. It just adds amazing shape to Naya’s body!

4. Rachel Berry on Episode 4×03 “Makeover”

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. Oh, Rachel Berry, my have you changed! As a faithful viewer of Glee, I have always appreciated Ms. Berry’s talent, but I couldn’t get over the fact that she dressed like a six year old school girl. Fortunately, her style took a turn in season 4 to a mix of preppy school girl chic and sexy starlet. In this outfit, she paired a matching striped sweater and socks with a black mini skirt. This outfit is perfect for a warm autumn day in NYC, as the sophistication of the sweater compliments the sensuality of the skirt. I love it!

3. TIE- Quinn Fabray and Santana Lopez in Episode 4×08 “Thanksgiving”

Image

The photo above can be found here and here. Sorry Kitty, but no one can take the position of Glee Queen B from Quinn Fabray. As the cruel mean girl of William McKinley High School who got pregnant at 16 by resident bad boy Noah Puckerman, Quinn’s modest apparel seems very strange, yet adorable. Quinn reminds me of Blair Waldorf, as both young woman are on the top of the social ladder yet choose to dress in a very classy way. Quinn looks radiant in this sequined multicolored dress, navy blue cardigan and riding boots. She keeps the fresh look consisted with minimal makeup and keeping her hair natural.

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. I am in love with the print on this dress, as it is a creative take on vertical stripes. Santana Lopez’s wardrobe concentrates on edgy looks with sex appeal. The body-con fit of this sweater dress is very flattering on the curves and appealing to the eyes. Finally, the black booties match any outfit, and elongates the legs.

2. Santana Lopez in all of Season 4

Image

The photos above can all be found of Fashion of Glee. Now, for the first 3 seasons of Glee, the Unholy Trinity (Brittany S. Pierce, Quinn Fabray and Santana Lopez) would usually be seen in there cheerleading uniforms. However, once graduation came around, we got to see the individual style of all of these girls. Santana Lopez has what I love to deem the “Adolescent Chic Aesthetic”. Her use of bold, statement pieces with sexy staples makes her one of my biggest fashion icons. For this reason, I give all of Santana Lopez season 4 and 5 outfits credit!!!

1. Rachel Berry in Episode 4×04 “The Breakup”

Image

The photo above can be found here and here. This outfit is my favorite single outfit in all of ‘Glee’ history! The simplicity of the outfit with its colorless palette is perfect. The white blazer is so well-tailored and sophisticated, yet the black short-shorts and sky high black heels make her gams look incredible! Her wavy, Victoria Secret-esque hair, smokey eye and dewy lip finish off this look. Not only does Rachel have the award for most improved style of all Glee characters, but she may have the best style period.

School Style: Autumn Addition!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Today, I decided to do a more personal post. As you may know as my followers, I consistently use images that have been professionally taken by reputable photographers and bloggers. I then rate this photographs in different fashion styles and beauty trends. However, today my school had a casual dress down day, and I realized how great the fashion style at my campus actually is. So, I now present with you on how to dress for a cool Autumn day, with models of my high school. Here you go:

Beautiful Day

Image

FASHION:

Scarves:

Image

This budding fashionista matched a sequin teal sweater with a colorful classic scarf. She then accesorised the look with large, hooped earring and a care-free ponytail. I absolutely love the use of a bold earring and the mix of rainbow and sequin. This is such a school appropriate look for school, and is just an elegant combination of childish wonder and modern fashion. Definitely an A+.

Image

Now, this brilliant little cheerleader wore a classic mix of taupe and gray. However, her scarf included a beautiful print that added a bold touch to her rather understated personality. As a fellow classmate of this gorgeous young lady, I can honestly say that her style correctly symbolize her personality: gracious, understated and soft. Just look at that smile!

Image

Now, this girl loves to rock her prints! She breaks all of the rules through mixing an aztec print black and white sweater with a bright pink scarf. Now, while mixing different prints can go very wrong, this young style guru goes for a safer choice of mixing two neutral colors (black and white) with a bold shade (bright pink). Her outfit is arguably one of my favorite of the day.

Jackets:

Image

The 90’s are coming back with jean jackets! While I am not a large fan of jean jackets (I only like darker denim), however, I can appreciate when the style is done well. In this photo, this little cheerleading musician matched her darker shades of gray and black with the lighthearted jean jacket to balance the level of tough and soft. In this case, the jean jacket is an essential piece of outerwear.

Image

Now, if you couldn’t tell by the perfectly manicured nails, the blended eyeliner and the beautifully styled hair, this young lady is definitely one of the schools top fashion inspirations. Now, even though I do not usually gravitate towards cardigans, I am a huge fan of fishnet stockings. The cardigan that this fashion maven wears adds an edgy, mysterious and slightly sensual touch to a traditionally preppy staple. I also love how she keeps the color palette of black and white consistent throughout the entire look.

Image

Now, this peppy young lady had my second favorite female look of the day, and I think that the light brown leather jacket is the icing on the cake. With her all black ensemble and gray colored crochet scarf, a black leather jacket would most likely have made the look slightly too gothic. Being a close personal friend of the girl in the photo, she is the furthest thing away from edgy–she is actually one of the most incredible and sweetest people you can ever meet. I think that the choice of a brighter jacket was perfect.

Image

This foreign beauty (German, to be exact) had one of the most girly and adorable outfits of the day. I first have to say I love the print on the skirt, as the pop of pink definitely calms down the intensity of the black on her fair skin. The pink top and gray scarf once again stay to her intended color palette, and the zip up jacket is such a casual addition to the outfit. I think that these types of jacket are need to down play the look from a night out on the town to a day at school.

Sweaters:

Image

Animal-printed sweaters have been a huge trend during this year’s New York and Tokyo fashion weeks, and are both comfortable and cute. Now, the butterfly stitch on this photo is almost as adorable as the girl wearing it, and perfectly symbolizes a silly personality. Once again, these types of sweaters are absolutely perfect to bring to school, especially on some of the chillier days.

Image

I love the color of this sweater, especially the stitching on the front of the top. The cross stitching on the front of the sweater makes it appear as a cardigan, and the illusionary types of clothing are some of my favorite types of fashion (think Dmitri from Project Runway final jacket)! Even though this may be unrelated, I love the color match between her top and the backpack–its so cute!

Image

This neutral colored taupe sweater is the perfect staple for a cool day at the academy. Its just so practical–especially when your studying hard like the girl in this photo. This is sort of an inside joke, as if you knew this young fireball in life, it would worry you to see her in such a serious pose 🙂 I also can’t help but marvel at the beautiful assortment of rings on her fingers.

Image

I love the interesting wool crochet pattern of this salt and pepper inspired sweater. I have never thought of matching a camo green colored pant with a black and white top, however, I might just go for it considering this look made it seem so fresh and cool. I also have to say that I love the shape of this young lady’s eyebrows and her smile, as it beams as much as her personality.

Image

As you can see with the large assortment of sweaters, they are all the rage with high school autumn fashion! This is most likely my personal aesthetic when it comes to fashion, as gold and black is my favorite color combination. The zig-zag design of the wool sweater adds a bold accent to the look, and completes the look.

Image

This petite princess is the queen of the sweater dresses, and takes a completely new spin on the traditional top. I love the use of a light blue gray dress and a navy trench coat, as it allows for the use of the same color palette. Some of the best outfits come from the use of different shades of the same color. The printed scarf is ah-mazing, especially the leopard print design. Finally, the belt clinches the waist perfectly, emphasizing this Italian’s beauty perfect figure.

Natural Makeup Look:

These are a few pictures of the ladies at the school who love to keep it au natural. As a girl who wears makeup about 50% of the week and goes bared-face the other half, I have no personal preference to if a person chooses to wear makeup or not. However, I feel that every person in this world is gorgeous, with or without makeup, and I think that every singe girl in these photos look incredible.

Glamorous Makeup Look

This is for all of my girls who love to use a little makeup to emphasize what they have got. Once again, I have no personal preference to whether a young women wears makeup or not, but I think that a little makeup to highlight your good features can always do good. I think that every young lady in every photo looks incredible!!!

Boys

Image

Image

Now, I couldn’t forget about my fellas! I think that too many school style post forget about the boys that need a little style help. In my school, a lot of the boys opted for zip up jackets, button up tops and sports jerseys. However, there were a few boys who when slightly more formal with a fitted blazer or leather jacket. I personally think that men should be confident in portraying there style, as I can admit that I know a plethora men with better style than I.

Now, the biggest rule in surviving school in the fall is to just HAVE FUN:

Now, as a weekly style report, I will give a personal style award to a student I feel exuded a certain amount of creativity to their look. Todays winner is:

This is actually an outfit I could see made in Berlin Fashion Week, as it has that incredible grungy look while being completely wearable. You go, girl!

Homecoming Dress Styles and Inspirations!

Hey Everyone!!!

It is mid-October, meaning that most high schools and colleges are going to be celebrating there homecoming dances soon! Homecoming is traditionally meant to be a semiformal event used to welcome back students from the summer. Even though school usually starts in August or September, the homecoming dance only occurs in October in order to allow for people to get back into the rhythm of school and get to know those around them. Today is my Homecoming, however, I was too sick to attend sadly. But I decided to do the second best thing and make a blog post on different dress style for different styles! Here you go:

If your personality and style is bold, free, bohemian and a little laid back, then you should go for PRINT:

Image

Printed dresses are bold and beautiful, with there unique patterns and interesting shapes, these dresses are perfect for people who wish to be different then the pack. However, prints can also be understated, which is great for people who have a very laid back type of style. Some celebrities that have been spotted wearing print include Kate Moss, Karolina Kurkova and Emma Watson!

Image

This is just an editorial I found on printed dresses from Cosmo.

If your personality and style are more feminine, classic and soft, then you should go for LACE:

Image

Lace is one of the most beautiful and heavily used fabrics of all time. Women throughout history have worn this classic staple, and look absolutely beautiful and heavily sophisticated. If you are the type of the girl who falls in a more classical category, and want to have an air of class around them on there dance night. Celebrities that love lace include Taylor Swift, Elizabeth Taylor (bless her soul) and Hailee Steinfeld.

If your personality and style are much more tough, edgy and a little dark, you should try LEATHER:

Image

Oh yeah, go leather! Leather and pleather (my go to fabric) are made for the edgy, powerful women who want to exert there power through there style. Now, while leather is traditionally black and brown, it now comes in an assortment in colors so that you can show your personality in an assortment of ways. Celebrities that are currently rocking the leather look include Taylor Momsem, Avril Lavigne and Hayley Williams of Paramore.

If your personality is loud, glamorous and perky, your dress should be SEQUIN:

Image

Aw, sequin, the fabric choice of R and B and pop princesses of the world. Sequin is such a loud statement, and shows the world that you are ready to party and have fun. Sequin and glitter and synonymous, and all eyes will be on you it these beautiful dresses. Celebrities that have been spotted in these dresses include Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Ashanti.

Now, for anyone who is curious, here is what I would have worn to my homecoming dance!

Image

If you guys haven’t heard, Kate Moss is creating another collection for Top Shop! This white Dobby dress comes from her 2007 collection, and I was able to buy it off amazon for about 35 euros, and then I had to get it altered for another 15 dollars or so. I really love the sillohuette of this dress, but I felt it was a little too plain for my style, so I embellished it with a few bold accessories:

Image

Image

Now, as you can see I went for a Grecian Goddess look for this dance. I picture above is pretty close to the shoes I own, however, mine has a 3.5 inch heel with a 0.75 inch platform in the front.  I also purchased the belt from ASOS, but I used a gift card that my friend wasn’t interested in and got it for slightly more then 15 dollars. The shoes were bought from a secondary designer shop in Philadelphia for about $40.

Trend Thursday: Ankle Booties and Gel Eyeliner

Hey Everyone!!!

I am so sorry for the lack of post this week! I have been very sickly lately, and I have barely been able to get out of bed let alone write an appropriate post for all of my fabulous readers. For the second week, I have made a Trend Thursday post on Saturday, but the overall idea has stayed the same. These are trends that I have been loving for the fall, particularly a fashion trend and a beauty trend. I actually have been loving these two trends for my entire fashion life, and I use them on almost a daily basis. Here you go:

Image

I am obsessed with ankle booties in every shape and form!!!! They are able to make your feet look smaller, add height to your frame, and they are so much more comfortable then heels. They are also great for the autumn as they are as warm and sweat inducing as boots but they aren’t as cooling as sandals or oxfords. In the picture above, I included everything from western cowgirl boots to tough leather booties for a night on the town. For all girls who are starting out on fall fashion trends, ankle booties would be one of my top picks.

Image

Intense gel eyeliner is one of the most beautiful makeup trends that I have ever seen in my life. Traditional eyeliner is used to add some definition to your eyes and make your lash line look thicker. However, with the creation of liquid and gel eyeliner, beauty trends became much more intense. Now, eyeliner can be used to completely change the look of your lids and add attention to your eyes. While gel and liquid eyeliner can be a little tricky the first few times you apply it, practice makes perfect. I particularly recommend the Bobbi Brown Eyeliner and Maybelline Gel Eyeliner.

Fashion Fanatic: Top 5 Pretty Little Liars Casual Outfits

Hey Everyone!!!

This week I am doing one of the most influential television shows in teenage fashion: Pretty Little Liars. I remember when I first saw the commercials of this show, and following my slight disappointment in watching The Secret Life of an American Teenager and the break that Degrassi was taking, I decided to try the show out. I was immediately entrenched in the story and hypnotized by the incredible outfits that our four favorite liars wore week from week. For this installment of Fashion Fanatic, I am sticking to my top ten casual outfits. While this installment will only comprise of Hanna Marin and Aria Montgomery, as they are the residential fashionistas of Rosewood High School. Here we go:

5. Aria Montgomery in episode 2×11 “I Must Confess”

Image

This ensemble is worn by our resident Artsy-Fartsy girl Aria Montgomery. This outfit consist of a pinstriped matching tank and skirt covered by a sheer, blood-colored dress. Aria then channels her inner Blair Waldorf with her matching burgundy colored headband and pearl stud earrings. I very much enjoy this outfit, as I feel that even though it is much different then Aria’s edgy style, in still symbolizes her love of art and classic beauty. Her posh bun is the finishing touch of this everlasting look of sophistication.

4. Aria Montgomery in episode 4×12 “Now You See Me, Now You Don’t”

Image

Due to her petite frame and short height, the audience barely gets the privilege of seeing Aria wear anything other then skirts or dresses. However, the costume designers had a surprise in for the audience during the season 4 summer finale when they put Aria in this beautiful pastel pink jean, black collared shirt and skull print blazer. A cream colored belt is used to give the blazer shape, and combat boots are used to make sure that the outfit does not become too feminine. I love this outfit on Aria, as I feel that it is a great example as to how to create an edgy take on a normally casual outfit.

3. Hanna Marin in episode 3×07 “The Kahn Game”

Image

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Hanna Marin rock this beautiful Aztec-print yellow and white body con dress. This is definitely an outfit I would think to find on Aria, as it has an edgy vibe to it with the tough biker jacket and the peep-toe leather booties. A black belt is used to synch Hanna’s enviable waist and emphasize her gorgeous curves. The icing of the cake of this outfit is the layered necklaces, Hanna’s dark eye makeup and her beautiful leather bag.

2. Hanna Marin in an unknown episode in Season 2

Image

This outfit is a textbook Hanna ensemble, consisting of staple feminine pieces and classic glamor. I love the minted ruffle top, and it matches perfectly with the mini black bandage skirt. Hanna then puts on a pinstripe blazer on top of the top in order to add a certain touch of Rosewood class. This outfit came a little earlier in the TV show, and it is one of the few Hanna outfits that sticks in my mind due to how flattering it is on her body type. The heels once again lengthened her beautiful legs, and makes Hanna look like a model on the go.

Image

This is just a close up look of Hanna in this outfit. I just love Hanna’s perfectly curled hair and feminine makeup, as I feel that it is perfect for Queen Bee of the school

1. TIE – Aria Montgomery in Season 3 and 4

ImageImage

Image

I have to admit, I am a little biased here. Throughout my obsession of Pretty Little Liars, I have learned that I own over 6 different articles of clothing that Aria has worn on the show. I am obsessed with her style, and feel that she is most likely one of the most influential characters on TV when it comes to fashion. In the earlier seasons, I sometimes felt that Aria’s style could come off as if she was trying a bit too hard. However, by season 3, she consistently came up with unique, strange and incredible outfits that would leave me staring in awe. I couldn’t choose just one outfit from throughout these seasons, so I just chose to include her entire wardrobe.

Avatar Inspiration: Fire

Image

Long ago four nations lived together in harmony….hello my amazing viewers!!!  The “Avatar” series is one of those cartoons that define my childhood. I remember being in middle school and watching marathons of my favorite benders fighting for the good of the world. I just finished a marathon of the sequel series “Legend of Korra” and decided why not post about a cartoon!

This look is inspired by what a female member of the Fire Nation may have dressed had they lived in current times. Unlike the more peaceful personalities for the water and air nations, the fire nation is much more edgy and rocker like. The colors are inspired by the color of flames, and therefore would be perfect for a fall look. The high-heeled booties are as hot as fire, leaving an edgy look that any aspiring firebender could rock.

I feel that for a personal style, inspiration should come from all things that you love and enjoy. While magazines and movies are great, cartoons can also be a great treasure of fashion inspiration. I hope that you all enjoy this article and have a great day!
